B.R. Garvin Born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, fine artist Barbara Garvin has lived in many places throughout this country, but settled in the Central Sierra in 1991. Influenced by her first trip west some forty years ago, this self- taught artist began as a painter of historical frontier themes and today still retains the same interest in them, in addition to an incredibly broad range of subject matter Vital
to a painting is the journey to bring it forth. With the belief an
artist must be present in what you are painting, Barbara is an explorer,
hiker and seeker of endless inspiration in nature. In
the studio one sees with only the eyes
. on location one sees with
all of the senses.
Major exhibitions and collections span three decades and much of this country. B.R. Garvin is a member of the American Women Artists and is included in An Encyclopedia of Women Artists & The American West. Publications have included the Cattleman Magazine, Texas Highways, Independent Cattlemen, Southwest Art, Voice for the Defense, Regency, Ultra, Prestige, Longhorn Sports, and the National Horse Show Magazine.
